These are certainly not the usual suspects.
Tripadvisor has unveiled its list of the Best Hotels In The World'”>best hotels in Nashville right now”>best hotels in the United States for 2026, and the top-ranked property isn’t located in New York, Los Angeles, or anywhere you have likely visited.
If you are planning a trip this year and need some inspiration, the Tripadvisor Travelers’ Choice Best of the Best Hotels rankings offers plenty of ideas. By highlighting the highest-rated accommodations across the country based on feedback from millions of travelers, the top 10 list serves as a “where is that?” guide to America.
The rankings are determined by the quality and volume of traveler reviews submitted throughout 2025. Tripadvisor notes that less than 1 percent of its approximately 8 million global listings earn the “Best of the Best” distinction, making this one of the platform’s most exclusive annual honors.
Taking the top spot for 2026 is the FivePine Lodge and Spa in Sisters, Oregon. According to Tripadvisor, the property distinguished itself with its peaceful atmosphere, rustic cabins, and expansive main lodge. Guests can also take advantage of complimentary breakfast, a nightly happy hour, an on-site spa, and a microbrewery.
This top selection reflects a trend of travelers favoring smaller destinations. While both New York City and Miami Beach secured spots in the top 10, the list primarily focuses on charming small towns and historic districts.
Oregon, in particular, had a standout year, placing two properties in the top three. In addition to the FivePine Lodge & Spa, the Atticus Hotel, which ranked at No. 8, received recognition for its design-forward rooms and its location in the heart of Oregon wine country.
Looking beyond the U.S., Tripadvisor named the G.H. Universal Hotel in Indonesia as the best hotel in the world for 2026. The only American hotel to break into that global top 10 was, once again, the FivePine Lodge and Spa.
