A TikToker has unlocked the secret to a “free” neck pillow on flights
Have you recently come across another advertisement for a revolutionary neck pillow? You can go ahead and ignore that one.
discovered something groundbreaking.
In a recent video posted on the social media platform, @hkisaway uses a scarf she already owns to create her own version of a neck pillow.
In it, the user is seen wrapping the scarf around the back of her headrest, tying a knot to secure the makeshift pillow into place, and finally, resting her head in the opening.
It’s genius. Admittedly, it is something I can’t believe I hadn’t thought of before. The video has garnered over 10 million views and more than 70,000 saves.
People were quick to comment with their thoughts.
One user replied with an AI-generated photo of what they thought the passenger behind might see while watching a movie. But since the scarf is looped around a headrest, it doesn’t cover the screen of the passenger sitting in the back.
@user8298407901483 said: “[I’ve] been an FA (flight attendant) for 17 years. I don’t think I’ve ever seen this. I applaud your brilliance.”
Another commented: “My flight is in three weeks and you just saved my life because no one has space to carry a travel pillow their whole trip.”
Deanneology offered some advice: “I’ve been doing this for years! But, get a silk scarf so your hair doesn’t get frizzy.”
Another user simply said: “Run for president”.
Hook your scarf around the headrest and voila!
My thoughts? It’s life-changing.
Why add on baggage when you can use an accessory you might already be taking with you on holiday? Not only is this hack “free” (if you’re in the minority of people who doesn’t own a single scarf, you’re the exception), but it’s easy to set up and you’re not bothering other passengers.
It begs the question though: is this hack actually comfortable? In a few weeks I’ll be on a 6.5 hour flight to Bali. I’ll report back then.
