Learn more about managing your trip, including using the Delta app and delta.com.
At Delta, our team of 100,000 is dedicated to providing a reliable, high-quality travel experience and reducing frustration when operational issues arise. We truly value the trust our customers place in us to transport them to their destinations safely and on schedule. That said, we recognize that the journey to the people and places that connect our world does not always go as planned.
Our culture is built on the foundation of supporting our customers, especially when they face delays, missed connections, or cancellations. We are committed to ensuring that passengers reach their destinations on safe, clean flights, arriving on time with their luggage.
The following information outlines steps you can take to maximize your Delta travel experience—not just during the busy holiday season, but every time you choose to fly with us.
We remain dedicated to caring for all customers and supporting every individual throughout their travel journey. Here is how we can assist when help is needed:
Know Before You Go
Join Delta SkyMiles® to help our teams better serve you and stay connected in the air
When you create a SkyMiles account, you receive more than just miles toward your travelers view day-of travel details, such as boarding zones, seat assignments, and baggage carousel information, directly on their lock screen.
The app is packed with features that help customers save time and manage their travel effectively even when the unexpected happens—such as the “Help Center” view, which is designed to simplify and streamline the steps required to continue your journey during disruptions.
6 ways the Delta app can save you time at the airport this season
Save time with App Bag Drop, available in all Delta hubs this January.
Browse the app with ease and enjoy an always-available boarding pass, an ‘Explore’ home screen, and more. Through the app, customers can manage flight options, track baggage, and more on one dynamic page. Furthermore, the app reflects much of the real-time data that Delta Reservations specialists see when assisting customers by phone or messaging, allowing you to make changes in real-time while on the move. Click on the “Today” tab in the app for boarding information, upgrade status, baggage location, and key self-service shortcuts like same-day changes. The tab is updated in real-time with the most critical information to ensure you never miss a gate change or an adjustment to boarding times.
If you are a SkyMiles member, logging into the app with your unique membership number and mobile number allows us to contact you if needed and provide better service during your travels (please ensure your mobile number is updated and accurate for your day of travel!). Later this year, customers will also be able to use their Delta SkyMiles credentials from the Fly Delta app to connect seamlessly to Delta Sync Wi-Fi onboard without needing to log in again.
Did you turn off notifications by mistake? Check the notification settings in your device’s Settings app to ensure Fly Delta app alerts are enabled. Manage your device’s sleep mode settings as well to prevent notifications from being silenced.
Be sure to watch for any emails or text messages from Delta containing essential updates regarding your flight status, travel documents, and what to know before arriving at the airport. This information is also available in My Trips.
Passport check: Renew early and validate
If you have international travel plans, confirm your destination, Fly Delta will alert you to any other required documents, allowing you to travel overseas with the necessary credentials and confidence.
Breeze through security
To speed up your airport experience, consider applying for TSA PreCheck® and opting in for TSA PreCheck Touchless ID (“Touchless ID”). Touchless ID utilizes facial-matching technology to let customers check bags and move through security without presenting a physical government ID, providing a seamless, hands-free way to navigate the airport. This optional technology is available to customers who:
Have a TSA PreCheck® membership.
Have passport information and a Known Traveler Number stored in their Delta profile. You will receive your Known Traveler Number with your PreCheck or Global Entry membership.
Have a (free) SkyMiles membership.
Have the Fly Delta app.
Know Your Zone
Delta uses numbered boarding zones for all flights. We offer pre-boarding opportunities for customers who require extra time or assistance, followed by active-duty military personnel. After pre-boarding, customers in Delta One or First Class will board in Zone 1, followed by Delta 360 Members, Diamond Medallions, and Delta Premium Select customers in Zone 2.
Check your boarding pass (printed or digital in the Fly Delta app) for your boarding zone number, and follow the sequencing using the Sky Priority lane. Zones 5-8 will use the General Boarding lane.
